Single level home in heart of Falls Church, VA is in a need of major change. She has been owning this home for more than 30 years and it is time to act on her instinct.
The single level home has been divided with staircase going to basement smack in middle. The left of staircase a galley kitchen, small and cramped. In front of kitchen divided dining room, to right of staircase living room space. “Old & Cramped” is what she like to call the old floor plan.
Our design staff has come up with a radical idea of taking the bearing wall between Kitchen and staircase out. Relocating the staircase eight feet toward back of the house, cut down all floor joists and reinstall a new bearing wall underneath. This Allowed a total open floor plan and much needed floor space in the kitchen area. We also took down partition wall between kitchen and dining room.
Replacing the small kitchen window with much larger bay window allowing lots of daytime light into this space.
A structural support beam and couple columns allowed us to implement a large island with new gas stove and overhead island hood be placed in center of this main level. Offering lots more storage and counter space as well as bar stool seating.
The south wall was used to place the fridge and pantry, letting more cabinets and counter on the side wall of this kitchen. Recess lights, undercabinet and indirect lighting all contributed to shine this kitchen.
New large-scale tile floors in kitchen and old dining space made the space look more connected and expanded.
Soft shade of Natural maple with coco glaze cabinetry complimenting the golden vein granite top is make this kitchen stand tall.
The path is clear, open space, clean and clear floor plan, lots of storage, bright and immaculate. She has been waiting for this kitchen uplift most of her life.
