A young family of four recently purchased a single family home in Clifton area with an unfinished basement.
Each member of the family had his or her opinion for this space. Husband wanted to have his music room. He has been a collector of old tracks and as a hobby he plays his guitar. Wife loves to dance and when having large parties, dancing naturally comes in the mix. Kids wanted media area for their WII & Xboxes, etc…
As a part of their ethnic traditions, their big gatherings were always involved with big fiesta, dancing and group mingling.
So, we presented them with a plan totally different than what builder has done on their neighborhood.
The massive amount of duct chases and piping were a big challenge to deal and we have to implement tray ceiling around them. This created an interesting but effective ceiling for this basement. They were multiple steel columns that needed to be addressed. We created arch passages with decorative hanging lights to make them stand out. We also made several recess arch niches with LED lights for display of rare art work collected by couple on their journeys.
The ground plumbing placed in the middle of the basement by the builder was not agreeing with new plan, it needed to be removed and new ground plumbing for bar area and new bathroom area were installed accordingly.
We have made a sound proof secluded room for the husband as his music room and work area. He has been collecting turn table records and loves to play his electric guitars. He could not be any happier to have his own space away from kids.
Next door is a new home for their in house gym with IPod ready sound equipment and full Wall mounted TV set up and full wall of mirror.
Middle of the basement is the space as focal point of this basement taken over by a gas fireplace wrapped around with ledger stones.
Mood lighting, sconces, recess lights, eyeball lights, disco lights, pendants, and chandeliers are contributed to this eclectic yet upscale showcase basement.
There was interesting two story area that we find it most suitable to set up our full bar. This area was done in Bordeaux finish cabinetry complimenting granite top, with bar setting for stool chairs.
Full scope of bar sink, double dishwasher, microwave oven, warming drawer, wine chiller, and under cabinet refrigerator was designed and built into this bar set.
The Media area was set up with built ins surrounding the large 110” Screen and a high tech Projects and surround sound system.
Now come the festivities, good food, dancing, gathering around the fireplace and kids play their little hearts out in the media center.
