Kitchen 89 Gallery

We remodeled this kitchen in this newer home to have a better flow, and accessibility. There had been some problems with the old kitchen besides being dated, there were cabinets that could not be opened when the dishwasher was open, and there was no cabinet location for the trash. The homeowners wanted to keep their cooktop in the island, and they wanted to have a cooking center nearby, so we located the refrigerator, ovens and pantry to the nearby wall. This opened up the corridor to the butler pantry and laundry room so that opening the refrigerator would not block them, as it had before. We redesigned the wall cabinetry and relocated the sink to the corner, to give them more counter space on either side of it for preparation. The cooking island can be used as a seating area, as well as a serving area for the breakfast room, but so can the counter near the sink, so they have options. The warm wood cabinetry gives it an elegant feel, and the stainless steel appliances reflect light around the room from the windows. we also installed lots of recessing lighting and pendant lights, as well as undercabinet lights. The dark granite contrasts with the wood tones and the neutral backsplash, but it’s still a neutral.
