Kitchen 114 Gallery

This kitchen was another contemporary interpretation from the 1970′s that was all in white laminate and white appliances. The kitchen space had cathedral ceilings that had lots of potential, but it was not utilized at all. We decided to warm up the space with cherry cabinetry and a black contrasting granite. The room was large enough to get away with it, and it also blends in with their furnishings. They wanted to have an island to eat at, which they did not have before, and we were able to give them that by removing a dividing wall between the rooms and extending the island into the family room. We also gave them a desk where the kids could do homework, as well as using the island, and everyone could be together. The black appliances tie in with the black granite and the modern pendant lights help keep the contemporary feeling of the home, without the typical globe fixture. The taller cabinetry fits the ceiling height better than the shorter ones did before, it does not look like something is missing anymore.
