The remodel of this kitchen expanded its size dramatically and gave the homeowners more storage space for both the kitchen and the nearby family room, while at the same time improving the look and open feel of the space, and allowing in more natural light. We added decorative touches as well, to make it an attractive addition to the family room next door. We removed the peninsula and the soffits, allowing for more storage space in all the cabinets, widening the space and allowing for an island to assist with food preparation. We installed quality cherry cabinetry with display cabinets facing the family room, and to break up the solid door fronts. The large pantry cabinet is so nice, it compliments the dining area like a piece of furniture. It has more storage space than the former pantry that took space from the kitchen. The refrigerator is larger, but its cabinet depth so it does not stick out and impede traffic flow. The cook got double convection ovens and lots more counter space. The new wood flooring also makes the kitchen feel richer. We added the decorative arch over the doorway to the dining room just to make it a bit more formal.
