Addition – 2004
A single mom living with three of her kids in Oakton area wishing to expand her rambler to gain large kitchen, new mudroom, new laundry room and a sunroom.
The current kitchen in dark, dated and placed in a 7’x12’ space. The adjacent dining room also small and cramped.
We have proposed a multi-level back addition to expand to back of kitchen and dining room, giving her the dream kitchen and breakfast room, with lots of windows and a cathedral ceiling.
The current washer/dryer were placed in unfinished basement area which was inconvenient for her and kids to carry their dirty laundry.
We have built a mudroom and laundry room few steps off the new kitchen area, given her a much-needed locker style space and tile floor full laundry room. A back door allowing kids to play in backyard and come in through the mudroom.
All facilities were moved around in order to knock down back brick and block bearing walls and connecting new space to back of old kitchen.
The new kitchen features cherry cabinetry, exotic hand selected stone counter top, and stainless-steel appliances under a hand painted extravagant back splash tile.
There are six more steps leading to new sunroom from mudroom with high ceiling and tucked in away from rest of the house. This give the kids to have their own multi- purpose game room and future sunroom. Equipped with a ductless HVAC system this sunroom can be climate controlled separately from rest of the house.
The seamless connection of exterior brick, siding, roofing made this addition as if it was always there. All power and cables where relocated allowing placement of this addition.
The designer’s eye for color and harmony has made this project bright and outstanding in its own category.
