This kitchen is in a relatively new home, but it was dated and needed more storage space. The homeowners wanted it to be more a part of the family room next door, and they wanted an extra large pantry cabinet, as well as space to sit at the island. We gave them this and more, with additional storage in the full height upper cabinets. We created a niche over the cooktop, so the wife can display her flowers there when she is not cooking. She likes to see them in the kitchen every day. The contrasting black granite counters add an elegance to the room, and the backsplash has decorative tiles interspersed for the same reason. In the little space left under the cooktop, we designed a custom spice drawer for the wife, to keep her jars neat and off the counter. As another elegant touch, we added turned legs to the island, as well as the glass front cabinet with lights in between the ovens and the refrigerator, which they use for serving and decorative items.
