Baby boomers resides in a fairly settled neighborhood of Vienna are ready to roll up their sleeves and got on with building their dream kitchen

The old kitchen was dark, had short cabinet, limited storage space , the back sliding door left no room for cabinet and counter space, garage entrance limited them not be use a large wall of kitchen, The partition wall among kitchen and dining room made this kitchen small and totally disconnected from entire first floor.

Design team met up with the couple and heard their objectives of lighter, brighter and open floor plan. Message was clear, bust through walls; make them an all around beautiful, well led kitchen that creates a flow to rest of the house.

The challenges were removing a major bearing wall and transfer the load while not inserting a big pole in the middle of the kitchen, relocating the garage and its entrance inside the garage to take advantage of the long left side wall. Conversion of sliding door to a big bay window. This allowed us to locate the sink and a large portion of base cabinetry on the south wall without losing the daylight from south side.

We have torn down the bulkhead; relocate the duct work to toe kick of cabinetry and one in the island. Then implemented a large island with room to seat four or more in the middle of this kitchen. Smart use of down lights, large pendent light s and LED stripe lighting made this kitchen brighter than ever.

Designer brought a soft shade of cream cabinetry carefully complimented by a rare exotic stone top to accomplish their light and bright goal. They cleverly complimented the tumble stone back splash to make the uniqueness of counter top pop.

Conversion of cooking to gas from old electric stove and locating all tall wall oven and build in refrigerator on the left wall and out of sight were few of the major changes in this project

The decorative carved legs on the island both serves as additional support and deign feature of this major furniture piece in middle of this beautiful kitchen,. Moving back into this kitchen has been a new beginning for this baby boomer couple and they couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome. She said “ new kitchen , new life” that how she sees it.
