This military family moved into our area last year. Their primary goal was to be relocated to an area with a good ranking school. They have chosen a nice, good course Vienna, VA neighborhood and an old rambler home, but with lots and lots of potential. The first order of business was to gut the old rundown kitchen.
The space was cramped and disconnected from the rest of the main level. There was a large bearing wall separating the living room from the kitchen and another separate dining room.
We had inserted a structure recessed beam into the attic space that enabled us to open up the entire main level. A large L-shaped island took over the wall placement given a big work and storage space to this couple.
We installed wood flooring and match it up with the remaining living space to create a continuous seamless main level.
By eliminating a side door and cutting through brick and block back wall, we have inserted a large picture window allowing lots of natural light into the newly done kitchen. Added recessed and pendant lights have improved interior lighting.
By using offset cabinetry and carefully selected granite slab to complement each other made it all more soothing to cook and entertain in this fabulous kitchen.
They are stunned with the massive transformation, and happy to join the community. It is time for them to go on with the rest of the house.
