1980’s contemporary Ranch style home in Tysons corner area has been home of this active couple. They have kid and grandchildren that want to be around all the time and wanted to maximize the use of the backyard.
The vision was to: create a large circular shape sun deck with a sunk-in endless pool and Sunk-in Jaccuzi in the middle of the backyard. Then build a lower level flagstone patio. And much larger trex deck just outside of the main great room, a cat walk from newly sliding doors in side accessing Master bedroom to deck area.
The challenge has been removing the big tree and shrubs. A lot of excavation needed to be done to allow the new structure and lower level patio to be I placed.
Prior to this project, the backyard was a mess of various shrubs and grasses, with no room for their grandchildren to play and children to play with them or watch them. Additionally, the deck was too small for entertaining, and even too small for their family to enjoy time outside on the deck. Basically, no one wanted to spend any time in the backyard, which was frustrating for their active family. Since the project, they now have room for entertaining, as well as for their large family gatherings. “We love our all seasons outdoor space, and spend almost every day enjoying the upper deck with its entertaining area (and our new access to it from the master bedroom)” that is how she described this project.
The swim deck with its hot tub and swim spa, and the patio, with plenty of room for children and grandchildren to play in the yard.
The stone walk is connecting the upper deck to lower sun deck and then to flagstone patio area.
The flow from master bedroom and Main level great room to outdoor living space over new deck and then the four season endless spa is very appealing and attract everyone attention to the back scenery.
He said;”Our problem now is getting anyone to come inside- and we like that problem.”
