An elegant country style kitchen was our goal in this large kitchen. The family
wanted to have an updated look with high end appliances and materials, and superior
craftsmanship. We designed the kitchen into the existing space, but reconfigured
it to include additional appliances, storage space and a larger island. The
island is custom built with a large circular table at one end, and solid oak
turned legs. It has the warming drawer and a second sink located in it, as well
as sitting area along the side. The professional range also has a pot filler
installed above it, with a heavy duty ventilation system. The cappucino maker
is located at the end of the sink counter, convenient to the breakfast area
and the island seating. The refrigerator is a Sub-Zero with drawer freezers,
paneled to match the cabinetry, with a set of custom shelves next to it for
the wife's pottery. The opposite side of the sink counter has storage shelving
and niches for the children's toys and school papers. In the wall between the
kitchen and family room, we installed additional cabinetry with a wine refrigerator,
so it can be used for serving and as a bar. The opening niche in the wall helps
keep the connected feeling between the rooms. As an added detail, we added contrasting
door frame mouldings to all of the openings between rooms. |
