This
large kitchen was spacious enough, but the walls dividing it from the family
room made the dining area tight, and the flow in the rear hallway was impeded
by the pantry closet sticking out, which also did not give them the best use
of the space. We took out the wall between the dining area and the family room,
and put in a short wall with granite to match the rest of the counter tops.
In the far hallway, we reconfigured the area by taking out the pantry cabinets,
opening up the hallway to the garage door. The pantry is now next to the "bar"
cabinets along the side wall of the kitchen, which also brings them into the
main kitchen area. We kept some of the old cabinets and helped the owners reconfigure
the laundry room, to give it more space. The floors are tiled with large tiles,
that the owners wanted to have flowing into the rear hallway and the entrance
foyer, to tie all of the rooms together. |
