There
was plenty of space in this kitchen, but it was not used very well, and
with the peninsula, there was not enough access and good flow in and out
of the kitchen. We reconfigured the peninsula into an island, with the stove
and venting system, as the homeowners requested, and made the counter split
height to give them a breakfast area as well as serving and cooking island.
We also gave them more storage with the full height cabinets, and a richer
look with the granite and hardwood cabinetry. We also extended the hardwood
flooring into the family room for a more cohesive look in the whole room.
