This
kitchen was very dated and needed to be opened up to the view of the landscaped
backyard through the large bay window. We removed the old peninsula, wrapped
cabinetry around the perimeter of the room, moved the entrance doorway to
make better use of the space to the left of it, to fit the refrigerator
and additional cabinetry. We put the stove on the peninsula wall, inserted
the island in the middle, and installed additional hutch cabinetry to flank
the breakfast area. The homeowners also wanted eating space at the island,
so we extended the granite countertop to accomodate the stools at the end
of the island. Full backsplashes in black galaxy granite offset the cream
satin cabinetry, creating an updated country kitchen look and helping define
the space. The space is now very bright and open. |
