To create
this enlarged master bath, out of a tiny very old bath, we incorporated a
small closet from the bedroom to make a larger shower, and closed off the
doorway into the bedroom. The homeowners did not want to use their existing
closet space for the bath, so we needed to work within a very small space.
We relocated the HVAC duct from the old wall of the shower to the vanity kick
panel, which required moving it between the floor joists. We also installed
his and hers shower heads in the shower, which required all new plumbing to
one side for the second set of shower heads. We installed lots of new lighting
to brighten the bath, and pocket doors, to save space. The door to the original
bath swung out into the closet, taking up precious space, and the closet door
to the bedroom did as well. We replaced both with pocket doors to gain space
and make it easier to move around in both the closet and bath. We installed
a new larger storage vanity and deep granite color to contrast with the light
tones througout the bath. The flooring is now a light tile that is cleaner
and more pleasant to look at than the mosaic tile that had been there before.
We added grab bars in the shower for the couple as they age, for extra safety,
as well as lots of extra lighting throughout the room. |
