In an
older home in Alexandria, there was not much space to enlarge this bath,
but it needed to be. In order to make space, we cut into an adjacent closet
and moved the main doorway to accomodate the new floor plan. We moved
the tub back into the former closet area, making room for the commode
by the window. Moving the door made room for a new double sink vanity.
The family liked a touch of modern design, so they chose fixtures to reflect
that, as well as an engineered granite surface for the counter top, in
white. The large mirror helps make the room feel more spacious, and the
shower wall gives the commode area privacy, since this bath serves the
whole family. Its neutral palette allows them to decorate with the color
of their choice.
